Blue & White Porcelain

It is said that baked blue-white porcelain originated in the Northern Song Dynasty  ca 960-1127. It became more popular during the Yuan and Ming dynasties (1271-1644). By 4th century, blue-white porcelain is shipped all over the world . It peaked during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and Europeans considered it valuable for its thin, translucent quality and exotic motifs.

The underglazed blue design is drawn with a cobalt pigment onto the stoneware body and painted over with a transparent glaze . It was fired at a high temperature and the smooth glaze never fades. It includes big bottles, pots, bowls and plates, with the traditional flavor of the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties. Blue-white porcelain is said to belongs to color-glazed porcelain using cobalt oxide. First, using cobalt oxide, paint the unbaked mould, then applied a layer of translucent glaze over it and bake it at 1,300 degrees Celsius.  Blue-white porcelain is also known as the "ever-lasting blue flower."
